STTV FELLOWSHIP BENEFICIARIES IN THE IDP CAMP

PEDSCA stands for Peter Daniel Scrabble Club Academy, a non-governmental organization aimed at grooming young Nigerians in the game of Scrabble. The club functions as
an Academy for tutoring upcoming scrabble players and organising scrabble tournaments and non-profit projects to give back to the community.

The Scrabble To The Village (STTV) project is an initiative by PEDSCA to afford less privileged children and youths in rural areas the opportunity to develop themselves through Scrabble.

The game of Scrabble is known to be an extremely educative game, coupled with its ability to help players develop skills like critical thinking and problem-solving. It also helps build up literacy skills and increases one’s vocabulary.

Bearing all these in mind, the STTV project fellowship will be carried out by recruiting proficient players of scrabble who will serve as tutors to the teenagers. These players or fellows would first be trained in life skills, teaching and people management.

After being trained, the fellows will be deployed to different communities/schools where they begin teaching the children. At the end of the scrabble fellowship, a tournament will be held to discover potential scrabble geniuses from the children.

With the aforementioned, the STTV project aims at inculcating all these skills in children and teenagers in rural communities. The goal of the fellowship is human development, positively impacting the Nigerian educational sector, developing literacy skills in young children and identifying young scrabble talents.
