On 7 June 2022 – World Food Safety Day – United People Global announced a new partnership with AfricaSeeds – the African seed sector development organisation – to contribute to the development and transformation of agriculture in Africa and to take action to fully harvest Africa’s seed potential. The partnership aims to raise awareness about the important role of seeds for food and nutrition security in Africa and its role in developing a more peaceful and sustainable world. It will support farmers with a particular focus on smallholder farmers, women farmers and young farmers, through knowledge creation and sharing about the importance of quality seeds. It aims to strengthen collaboration by governments, the private sector, and international organisations to deliver modern, effective and resilient seed systems that serve African farmers better. AfricaSeeds is a crucial player in the African seed sector with an aim to promote sustainable development of the seed sector to contribute to agricultural transformation, food and nutrition security, and poverty reduction in Africa. As part of the partnership, AfricaSeeds will support advocacy efforts and capacity building for all stakeholders interested in and affected by the seed sector development in Africa.
