My name is Marian and I am the founder of Teleproserv. I would like you to join me in my effort to help improve maternal health. Teleproserv exists mainly to provide free remote digital service to women suffering from Obstetric Fistulation. Obstetric Fistulation is actually the leading cause of maternal morbidity. It is the presence of a hole between a woman’s genital tract and urinary tract or between the genital tract and the intestines.
It occurs in women aged between 15 – 49 and here are some primary factors commonly associated with Obstetric Fistulation; place of birth, presence of skilled birth attendant, duration of labour, lack of prenatal care, early marriage, lack of family planning and a number of other poorly defined factors.
“Very little attention is being given to this disease and the female gender is really suffering, Take an example in my country Kenya many women living on the coast are really suffering. They are not able to get medication easily since the only hospital known to treat the disease is far from their homes and they find it expensive to go to the hospital. Help is really needed in this area” Mercy, Kenya.
“The disease is very devastating and has received very little attention, while treatment centre are far the cost of care is also very expensive” Mami, Ghana
