COVID-19 Pandemic and Digital Divide

Digital Divide as experienced by the students during the COVID-19 Pandemic was a virtual discussion (webinar-type event) which presented how the digital divide had affected learners. The session was open to students and educators who were interested in creating and raising awareness about this issue. This event had been conducted locally and internationally and had reached approximately 1000 participants and is open to be re-conducted in different scenarios, topics may also be adjusted depending on the need of the group.

The discussion focused on clarification of the meaning of the Digital Divide through the presentation of its levels, and examples. It further presented the effects of technology on education and the implication of the digital divide. It also mentioned some ways which are possible for bridging the gap in order to ensure that the students, wherever they may be, are still reached with a good quality of education.

I hope through this initiative, more people will be interested in taking part in this.
