According to UNICEF, Nigeria’s 40 million women of reproductive age (between 15 and 49 years old) have a disproportionately high number of birth-related health problems. While the nation constitutes 2.4% of the global population, it is now responsible for 10% of maternal fatalities worldwide.

The most recent statistics indicate that the rate of maternal death is 576 per 100,000 live births, the fourth highest on the planet. Each year, nearly 262,000 newborns die, the second-highest amount in the world. The high mortality rate in the nation may be argued to be a direct outcome of poverty and resource mismanagement.

About 15% of rural households in Nigeria increased their working hours to deal with the volatility of food and fuel prices, and almost 10% of rural households engaged in additional casual work to compensate for the loss caused by external shocks, according to a study on the effects of the global crisis in Nigeria. Experts claim that child poverty is about 90% higher in rural regions.

Inflation has been on the increase in the nation lately, resulting in a high cost of living. This has increased the number of homes that have little to no food and the number of those who are hungry in a nation with abundant resources. Unfortunately, a country like mine is suffering such difficulty.

I aspire to make a difference in my little manner by giving back to society. However, there are limits to what I can do on my own. Matthew Oladipo Akinwumi is my name. On the occasion of my 30th birthday, my team and I launched a project. This effort was intended to benefit the hospital where I was born. I was born 30 years ago and celebrated my 30th birthday by giving to the maternity ward and hospital.

I and my team implemented fundraising to this effect. We appreciate everyone who supported us towards achieving our objective and making the project a big success.  To learn more about this  action, contact us via email at officialtophet@gmail.com
