A COVID19 Youth Response to Education

“The Department of Education implemented remote learning as a reaction to the school year, 2020-2021, and the tremendous difficulty of this pandemic to guarantee that students continued their education despite the COVID-19 epidemic.” sic

The Department of Education recommended a variety of instructional approaches for use in distance learning. Across the 16 municipalities that make up the province of Capiz, a needs assessment study found that the majority of schools planned to use a form of education known as “Blended Learning,” a hybrid of online and modular components.

Furthermore, in modular learning, modules are the key learning resources to be utilised, and an Internet connection is a primary instrument required for online learning. However, school problems for both primary and secondary students include a lack of or restricted financial resources for materials and equipment for Learning Modules, as well as a WIFI modem for students to use for online learning.

With the above-mentioned situation of the education sector in the province, the Youth Advocates for the Philippines of the Province of Capiz initiated the “Buligan Ko, Eskwelahan Ko Project: A COVID-19 Youth Response to Education.   The “Buligan Ko, Eskwelahan Ko Project: A COVID-19 Youth Response to Education is a project that aimed to gather in-kind or cash donations for bond papers, printers ink, WIFI Modems, printers for the student modules and their online learning, alcohol, hand sanitisers, reusable and washable facemask for the sanitation kit for the faculty.
