I am excited to share my experience moderating an inspiring World Environment Day 2024 webinar, organized collaboratively by Women in Climate Pakistan and the Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF). The event focused on the theme “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration,” highlighting the urgent need for collective action against land degradation, desertification, and the growing challenges of drought resilience.
The webinar discussed the interconnected issues of environmental sustainability and community well-being, including the psychological impact of desertification and climate change on communities and the need to build resilience, the transformative power of education in fostering environmental awareness and empowering individuals to take action and the impact of grassroots efforts in driving change.
This year’s World Environment Day theme is a reminder that we are not passive observers of the environmental crisis but active participants in its solution, urging us to embrace our responsibility to restore and protect the planet, not just for ourselves but for future generations.
