A recent session at Greatstar Academy brought together 15 eager grade 3 students and their class teacher for an engaging and insightful discussion on sustainability. The students’ attentiveness, curiosity, and willingness to collaborate made the session both enjoyable and impactful. Their teacher also expressed enthusiasm for furthering these lessons by exploring opportunities such as the Sustainability Leadership Class of 2025.
The session introduced the United People Global (UPG) platform, the United Nations, and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Emphasis was placed on the importance of understanding these goals and integrating sustainable practices into our daily lives whenever possible. The interactive nature of the discussion helped the students understand the relevance of these global objectives in shaping a better future.
As part of the session, I shared details of my project, ECOPLAST, which focuses on SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. ECOPLAST is a proactive initiative addressing the challenges posed by unmanageable plastic waste. Through advocation for innovative plastic solutions, the project aims to create a greener tomorrow and contribute to a sustainable planet.
Witnessing young minds embrace the principles of sustainability reinforces the importance of fostering awareness from an early age, planting seeds for a more responsible and eco-conscious generation.
