At Mburu Gichua Academy, a government institution in Nakuru, Kenya, I embarked on a mission to ignite the imaginations of young minds and inspire them to believe in their own potential to make a difference. My goal was to introduce them to the United People Globals Sustainability Leadership Program and encourage them to share this valuable opportunity with their friends and family aged 18-35.
The session began with an exploration of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for 1 all. I emphasized the importance of understanding these interconnected goals and incorporating them into our daily lives.
Building on this foundation, I presented my own project idea: ECOPLAST, a comprehensive initiative aimed at tackling the pressing issue of plastic waste pollution.
This engagement at Mburu Gichua Academy was a truly rewarding experience. By introducing young minds to the SDGs and inspiring them with innovative solutions like ECOPLAST, we empower them to become active participants in creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
