In a world still grappling with gender inequality, empowering young women is crucial for creating a more just and equitable society. Recognizing the prevalent gender disparities in my country, I organized a series of mini-training sessions at the Ladies Hall of the University, focusing on the critical importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The training sessions delved into the four pillars of United People Globals, exploring their interconnectedness and relevance to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on SDG 5: Gender Equality. I introduced “Empower Together,” a groundbreaking mobile app designed to challenge gender bias in career choices. This innovative tool provides access to valuable career information, showcases the achievements of successful women, and connects young women with inspiring mentors.
These sessions were exclusively designed for female students, fostering a safe and supportive environment where they could freely express their aspirations, challenges, and concerns. This inclusive space encouraged open dialogue and facilitated meaningful discussions on issues such as gender stereotypes, workplace discrimination, and the importance of breaking down barriers to women’s advancement.
This initiative is crucial in my country, where women often face significant obstacles in accessing education, employment, and leadership opportunities. By empowering young women with knowledge, skills, and a strong support network, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
