Last year, while pursuing my Master’s degree in Oujda, Morocco, I identified a critical need: expanding civic opportunities for the city’s youth. Recognizing the untapped potential of young people in Oujda, a city facing economic and social challenges, I thought it necessary to take action.
Through a collaborative effort, I partnered with a professor of English and a leadership counsellor from the prestigious National School of Business and Management in Oujda. With the invaluable support of funding from Dar America Morocco, I spearheaded the organization of a one-day leadership training program designed specifically for Oujda’s youth.
This open-to-the-public training program was designed to equip young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective leaders. The day consisted of a variety of engaging activities, including:
- Team-building exercises: Focused on fostering collaboration and communication skills.
- Interactive workshops: Delivered by subject matter experts on leadership principles and civic engagement.
- Open discussions: Encouraging participants to share their experiences and aspirations.
This one-day training program was a resounding success. It provided a platform for Oujda’s youth to develop their leadership skills, learn about civic engagement, and gain confidence in shaping their future. Through this initiative, I believe I ignited a spark of empowerment in Oujda’s youth, paving the way for a brighter future for the city.
