Empowering Future Leaders: Sharing the UPG Experience with My University

As a university student deeply passionate about sustainability, I was thrilled to learn that over 25 of my peers were selected for the prestigious UPG Sustainability Leadership Program 2024. Inspired by these experiences, I organized a mini-training session at my university to share the UPG ethos and encourage my fellow students to become active agents of change.

The session delved into the core principles of UPG, exploring its four pillars and their significance in addressing global challenges. We engaged in insightful discussions on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on SDG 5: Gender Equality.

To further illustrate the practical application of these concepts, I presented my own project, “Empower Together.” This innovative mobile application aims to tackle gender bias in career choices for Bangladeshi students. By providing access to information on diverse career paths, showcasing successful women in male-dominated fields, and offering career guidance and mentorship, “Empower Together” seeks to create a more inclusive and equitable society where all individuals, regardless of gender, have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.

This mini-training session was a valuable experience, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability principles and inspiring my fellow students to become active participants in creating a better world. By empowering young people with the knowledge and tools to address critical challenges like gender inequality and environmental degradation, we can pave the way for a more just, equitable, and sustainable future for all.
