On June 1st, I had the privilege of engaging with the Sustainability Leadership Class of 2024 in an online project that aimed to raise awareness about Sustainable Consumption and Production (SDG 12). This session provided a valuable opportunity to not only share my knowledge and insights but also to enhance my own public speaking skills.
The session commenced with a demonstration of the mini-training template, a valuable tool for effectively communicating key messages. I then presented my own project, “ECOPLAST,” which focuses on innovative solutions for plastic waste management. To further illustrate the importance of SDG 12, I shared my “TRASH TALK” creative art assignment, which explores the impact of plastic pollution through artistic expression. Finally, I presented my visual art piece depicting a circular economy model for plastic waste management.
The interaction with the candidates was truly inspiring. Their inquisitive nature, attentive listening, and collaborative spirit created a dynamic and engaging learning environment. This valuable experience not only helped me to effectively communicate my project ideas but also provided me with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with promoting sustainable consumption and production.
This online session was a valuable learning experience for both the candidates and myself. It underscored the importance of youth empowerment in driving the implementation of the SDGs. By equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to address global challenges, we can collectively work towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
