Cultivating a Greener Future: Empowering Women in Climate Entrepreneurship at IIUI

It was an immense honor to address a seminar on Entrepreneurship at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), focusing on the powerful intersection of youth innovation and climate responsibility. This session felt uniquely special, as my audience was comprised entirely of bright female students whose enthusiasm, intellect, and curiosity truly underscored the pivotal role women will play in shaping a sustainable future.

During the seminar, I presented my Urban and Indoor Gardening Project as a tangible example of sustainability in action. I showcased how cultivating green spaces within homes and cities can evolve into meaningful climate solutions and, crucially, scalable business opportunities. But our conversation didn’t end with gardening. We spoke on climate-friendly, science-based business ideas, leading to discussions around vertical farming, biodegradable product development, organic waste recycling, solar-powered appliances, climate-smart agriculture tools, and even eco-tech apps for sustainability education.

My core objective was to empower these young women to transition from mere concepts to tangible creation. I wanted them to see themselves not just as learners, but as future entrepreneurs, scientists, and formidable change-makers. I guided them on how to transform their innovative ideas into actionable plans, develop sustainable models, and forge purpose-driven pathways that benefit both our planet and their communities.

This seminar profoundly reinforced a vital message: women’s leadership is absolutely central to solving the climate crisis. When we equip young women with the right tools, confidence, and unwavering support, they bring unparalleled creativity, care, and resilience to every solution they build.
