Building a Brighter Future Through Sports Entrepreneurship: A US Embassy Morocco Initiative

I had the incredible honour of being selected by the US Embassy in Morocco to participate in a unique training program. This program, co-organized by the esteemed Tibu Africa, a social inclusion NGO leveraging sports, brought together young leaders like myself to tackle social challenges through sports entrepreneurship.

The program featured inspiring mentorship from two remarkable champion-entrepreneurs: Ibtihaj Muhammed and Justin Forsett. Their guidance and expertise proved invaluable as we delved into the world of sports entrepreneurship and its potential for social good.

Throughout the training, participants were tasked with designing and implementing sports startups aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting social inclusion. Our focus areas included:

  • Re-engaging at-risk youth: Developing sports programs to provide opportunities for kids who dropped out of school.
  • Empowering women: Creating initiatives that promote access to education and sports participation for women.

By the program’s conclusion, participants had developed concrete project proposals focused on utilizing sports entrepreneurship to create decent jobs and address social challenges within marginalized communities. These proposals offered valuable insights into the potential of sports to drive positive change.
