This project was led by me and one of my Alumni fellows from the Afghan US Alumni Network (AUSAN) that funded our project. We targeted 10 crowded places where the traffic officers were around Kabul city, and each place contained 6 traffic officers total of 60 officers.
All 10 targeted places were divided into 5 districts. Based on project action, 60 hygiene kits consisting of 10 medical face-mask bags, one pair of high-quality gloves, a medium bottle of hand sanitiser, and a covid-19 awareness material were distributed to all 60 beneficiaries.
This package contained all the required materials that World Health Organization approved for personal protection against the coronavirus. The overall goal of the project was to protect 60 Traffic Officers in Kabul city against the Covid-19 pandemic by providing hygiene kits and Coronavirus awareness materials.
In addition, other objectives include; sensitizing 60 Kabul traffic officers to the importance of personal hygiene, way of providing a clean/healthy environment in preventing of Covid-19 disease and other infectious diseases by donating hygiene kits and awareness materials and helping the 60 traffic officers to be safe from the pandemic as well as protect their families by considering medical tips, and raising their awareness through the given informative materials.
Through the project we were able to achieve;
1. level of personal hygiene of 60 Kabul traffic officers improved and was protected against Coronavirus risks by over 90% and
2. the awareness of 60 traffic officers was raised as they were protected against the Covid-19 pandemic risks as well.
