Today, we spotlight the impactful work of the Numfor Solange Foundation (NSF) in Limbe, Cameroon. On May 11th, 2022, the NSF officially launched its Waste Segregation and Sensitization Project in collaboration with the Limbe II Municipal Council. This project signifies a significant step towards a cleaner and healthier Limbe.
The project launch ceremony was a testament to collaboration for positive change. A central element of the project involved the distribution of a total of 48 communal garbage bins. These bins, strategically placed throughout the Batoke and Mokundange communities, will facilitate proper waste segregation.
The project goes beyond simply providing bins. The NSF undertook a door-to-door sensitization campaign to educate residents on proper waste management practices. Additionally, a survey questionnaire was conducted to gather valuable feedback from the community about the project and their willingness to participate.
This impactful project was made possible through a grant from the Tomoni Crowdfunding initiative by Tohoku University, Japan, the alma mater of Dr. Numfor Solange, the founder of the NSF. This collaboration between a university, an NGO, and a local government demonstrates the power of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
