Recycling for a Sustainable Future in Ninawa

A dedicated group of environmental enthusiasts launched an initiative to promote recycling in Ninawa governorate, aiming to reduce waste, conserve resources, and promote sustainable living. The initial phase of this initiative involved establishing 50 recycling collection points across the governorate, benefiting local communities and reducing landfill waste.

The initiative is primarily funded by generous donations from friends and partners committed to environmental sustainability. Financial contributions have enabled the acquisition of recycling bins, sorting equipment, and other necessary materials. The recycling activities are organized and executed with the assistance of at least 20 volunteers, including residents and environmental science students from the University of Mosul.

The team is thrilled with the immediate positive impact and has set ambitious goals to expand the project. By the end of 2025, they plan to establish 150 recycling collection points and launch educational campaigns to benefit 3,500 households and foster long-term sustainable waste management practices in the region. Their efforts include workshops on the importance of recycling, aimed at empowering the local community to participate actively in waste reduction and resource conservation.

The initiative aims to promote recycling and create a model for community-driven environmental stewardship that can be replicated across other regions facing similar challenges.
